IT is amazing how smug the Labour Party remains that they should write at this time to tell people how lucky they are to have the minimum wage.

Those on the lowest wages have been hit hardest by Gordon Brown's torrent of tax. The gap between the richest and poorest is now wider than in 1997. Millions have been wasted through incompetence in the administration of tax credits.

Petrol is up, electricity is up, gas is up, food is up and tax is up. Meanwhile local services like our post offices are closing. The 10p tax fiasco cost £2.4billion. Northern Rock cost £3billion this month. We have the highest budget deficit in the G8.

The Voice of the Fens noted 'the months ahead will test both businesses and individuals to an extent not seen or experienced for a generation', yet surprisingly Labour chose now to pat themselves on the back.

If they really think people agree with them, keep Gordon Brown as leader and call an election.
