I READ with interest your article "Pioneering Work....waterside road dangers".

It seemed a very sensationalist reaction from Cambridgeshire County Council, in order to counter the continued campaign for riverside barriers.

To me personally a complete waste, again, of money to what appears quite commonsense ability to assess dangers of Fenland riverside roads.

I believe a report has advised in the past that barriers would need deep piling of some sort, but not that it was not possible, in engineering terms.

Maybe we should be asking more direct questions on what has already been shown by engineers.

Maybe I am naive. In terms of best allocation of resources it feels we'd have more to utilise if the council didn't waste so much on ideas like this.
