I LIVE in the Wisbech Waterlees ward that was involved in a recent survey of fenland villages.

I read your article and as a local town councillor who took part in the latest local survey I felt I had to let you know a bit about the area in which I live.

We have not seen any government investment in this area. It is still run down. The children still have little to do in the evenings.

I still have people ask me where their children can go after school. There is not a lot to offer in this ward if you are a child aged between 11 and 16.

I would like to ask you if you can find out exactly how much has been invested in Waterlees ward for the local children to attend local clubs, be it a music project or a photography project, maybe somewhere where the local youths can hang out.

There seems to be a lack of delivery of services to local young people and as Wisbech is growing at an alarming rate we need all the help we can get.

A colleague of mine set up a neighbourhood watch scheme, something that has been received with open arms by local residents in the Waterlees ward.

We are still trying to get parks put on open spaces for the younger children. This so called investment would have helped with that.
