I READ with interest the article regarding the election of Mr Scrimshaw to the Parson Drove, Murrow, Guyhirn and Thorne Toll ward.

I feel Mr Scrimshaw is wrong to criticise the former holder of his seat, Phil Wait, who recently resigned after the council decision to allow the sex shop at Guyhirn to be licensed.

I have known Mr Wait for a number of years and he has always been a fighter for a cause in which he believed, quite clearly the opening of Kiss Kiss was something he felt strongly enough against, so much so in fact he felt he had to stand down from his post after failing to get the support from his fellow councillors.

The extra cost of another by-election so closely after, is regrettable, but surely the council has a fund to allow for unforeseen expenditures, whatever the reason.

I would however like to wish Mr Scrimshaw success in his new post and hope he does not find himself in the same position as his predecessor.
