A sheepdog display will be one of the many attractions when the Gorefield Show returns for its 53rd running next Saturday. (June 13)
The extravaganza will see hundreds of people flock to the Playing Fields in Wolf Lane, where there will be all the usual fun and activities, and more.
The show kicks off at 8am with the much expanded pony show, now a qualifier for the British Show Pony Society and Ponies Association (UK).
The ponies are closely followed by their larger relatives - the heavy horses. Shires, Percherons and Suffolk Punch will be exhibited in the main ring from 9.30am onwards.
There will also be a falconry display in the main ring courtesy of Mike Willis and his team. The birds will be on the field all day where for a small charitable donation members of the public will be able to hold them and take photos.
David Seamark will show how his sheep dogs help him with his day to day duties on the farm, and there will a chance for spectators to get involved in the fun.
There is also a bungee trampoline, bouncy castle, swing boats, a teacup ride and athletic competitions with cash prizes.
Throughout the day in the main ring there will be a parade of classic and vintage cars and tractors, fancy dress and novelty dog classes. This will be free to enter as it will be part of the entertainment.
The showground also boasts an excellent range of side shows and country stalls.
Entry is Adults £3, Children Under 18 and OAP’s £2, Children Under 12 Free. Car On the show field £7 (not including occupants). Disabled parking is provided for free on the field. There is a free car park for all opposite the showground at the Halifax yard.
