Pete’s Dragon is the perfect feel-good family film, with plenty of moments that will pull on the heartstrings of adults and children alike.

As well as being beautifully animated and emotively soundtracked, the plot encompasses grief, love and to some extent, mental health.

With an endearing broken tooth and the ability to show love using no words, Elliot the dragon - like an overgrown puppy – is the loveable star of the movie.

You’ll fall in love within the first few seconds of seeing him; never has a dragon looked so cute or friendly on the big screen.

This is the sort of film you would want to watch after a family Christmas dinner – and it’s certainly destined to become a modern great.
