Wisbech Amateur Operatic and Dramatic Society is currently hard at work rehearsing for their forthcoming spring musical, ‘Annie’.
An all time family favourite film, the West End and Broadway hit musical follows a young girl who escapes the orphanage desperate for a better life.
Based on the popular comic strip ‘Little Orphan Annie’, which ran from 1924 to the end of the 30s, the musical first hit Broadway in 1977 and ran for a very successful six years.
The musical has also been a hit film, with several theatrical revivals over the years.
There is currently a UK tour with Craig Revel Harwood playing the nasty Miss Hannigan. For WAODS production, newcomer Eva Mason plays Annie, with many other local amateurs in the other roles.
