To get the RATz adult theatre group in character for their upcoming production of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, some of its cast paid a visit to an actual barbershop.
Before taking the dangerous story to the Wisbech Angles Theatre stage next week (Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 at 7.30pm each evening), two of the main characters and the director paid a visit to Banks Barbershop, 18 Old Market, Wisbech, PE13 1NB.
Whilst there they learnt how to use a cut throat razor and ‘Sweeney Todd’ had to use all of his self control not to bump off the director.
RATz will bring the story to life from Tuesday 10 to Saturday 14 October. The show is suitable for those aged over 14.
The corrupt Judge Turpin wrongfully sentenced Benjamin Barker to life imprisonment goes the story. Benjamin Barker later escaped and changed his name to Sweeney Todd.
He tried to return to his old profession of being a barber. So he hired a space above Mrs Lovett’s struggling pie shop.
Sweeney Todd swore vengeance against Judge Turpin and with Mrs Lovett’s help, they devised a plan which unfortunately took both of them down a dangerous and deadly path.
Tickets, which cost £10 per person in advance, are available from www.anglestheatre.co.uk/sweeney-todd.html or by calling the box office on 01945 474447. For more information email office@anglestheatre.co.uk
