Just in time for Christmas, the third instalment of one of the most popular singing-based movie franchises returns offering plenty of laugh out loud moments, pop singalongs and a heartwarming finale - just forgive the slightly ridiculous Bond-like action-comedy plot this time around...

Now graduated from college and out in the real world where it takes more than a cappella to get by, the Bellas return. After the highs of winning the World Championships they hate their lives out of the group – rubbish day jobs and failed relationships lead them to regroup for one last time, naturally.

With the chance to reunite for an overseas tour performing for the US troops - where the prize is to open for DJ Khaled (appearing as himself) - the group go up against ‘proper’ bands (unfairly, with instruments) and fall in love with some of the servicemen at the same time.

Once again, Australian actress Rebel Wilson (Fat Amy) steals virtually every scene with her constantly hilarious one liners, put downs and facial expressions. Though this time she’s given the chance to act serious - in parts - as the audience learns of her daddy issues. She’s convincing enough in conveying the emotion of not having seen her estranged criminal father Fergus (a charming yet cunning John Lithgow) for decades, but then it all gets a bit silly when the explosive plot transforms Rebel into a sort of female James Bond...

Anna Kendrick is great, too, as Becca Mitchell - a music producer struggling with sexism in the industry and fed up of being told her ideas are inferior. Bringing the Bellas together, Kendrick’s voice is strongest - something that comes into play later on screen- as the dozen-strong cohort sing catchy vocal-only arrangements of Britney Spears’ Toxic, Sia’s Cheap Thrills and DNCE’s Cake By The Ocean.
