Teri Hatcher will take on the role of Miranda Priestly in the West End production of The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical.
The actress, 61, will replace her former Desperate Housewives co-star Vanessa Williams when she exits the role on September 18.
Hatcher will make her debut as the feared editor of Runway magazine on Tuesday October 20 at the Dominion Theatre, with actress Debbie Kurup playing Priestly in the interim.
Hatcher said: “I’ve been fortunate enough to play some pretty formidable women throughout my career, but very few can compare to THE Miranda Priestly.
“I’m absolutely delighted to be joining The Devil Wears Prada in the West End. Miranda is intelligent, commanding and has a glorious way of putting you in your place while being funny at the same time.

The musical tells the story of aspiring journalist Andy, who lands a job at the prestigious Runway magazine where she will work for Priestly, the terrifying editor-in-chief.
Sacrificing her personal life to meet Miranda’s impossible demands, Andy finds herself seduced by the glamorous world she once despised.
The musical is based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel and the 2006 film which grossed 326 million US dollars (£240 million) worldwide and received two Academy Award nominations. Priestly was played by Meryl Streep in the film.
The sequel, The Devil Wears Prada 2, was released on May 1, 2026 with its original leading cast, Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci all reprising their roles.
Hatcher made her musical theatre debut as Sally Bowles in the acclaimed national tour of Sam Mendes’ groundbreaking revival of Cabaret and, more recently, winning praise for her portrayal of Morticia Addams in The Addams Family.
She portrayed Susan Mayer on Desperate Housewives from 2004 to 2012 alongside Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman. Williams starred on the show for its final two seasons.
Hatcher is also known for starring in Lois And Clark: The New Adventures of Superman and playing Bond girl Paris Carver in the 1997 film Tomorrow Never Dies opposite Pierce Brosnan.
Her final performance as Miranda Priestly is scheduled for February 6, 2027.
Opening in the West End in December 2024, The Devil Wears Prada: The Musical has become the fastest‑selling show in the Dominion Theatre’s history, selling more than 1.3 million tickets to date.
The show will also celebrate a major milestone on September 23 when it reaches its 800th performance.
