Wisbech Society continues its 2016/17 winter lecture season with Opium Eating in the Fens in the 19th Century, presented by retired Wisbech GP Eric Somerville.
The talk takes place at the Dwight Centre, Wisbech Grammar School from 7.30pm on Monday January 9.
Eric will talk about the widespread consumption of opium in Fenland during the 19th Century. Half the opium imported into Britain for home use was consumed within 40 miles of Wisbech.
Admission is free for society members and under 18s or £3 for non-members.
