AWARD-WINNING performers from Cambridgeshire youth troupe Dance Offensive are preparing for a one-off performance in Wisbech.
The troupe will perform their new show, entitled ‘5 Movements’, which is set to Jean-Phillippe Rameau’s Suite from Platee - an 18th century baroque opera.
It promises to be “a stunning tale of intrigue, desire, deceit and scandal”, combining breakdance, contemporary moves, Capoeira and ballroom.
The performance will take place at Thomas Clarkson Community College on February 15 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced at 3, are available from Wisbech Tourist Information Centre or by calling 01945 583263.
The evening will also include guest performances from some of the region’s most talented youth dance companies.
Dance Offensive, formed in 2006, offers 15 hours of free classes every week. Its members include referrals from the Cambridgeshire Youth Offending Service.
Last year, the troupe wowed audiences at The Kids Are Alright Awards at Wisbech Fire Station, co-hosted by the Cambs Times/Wisbech Standard. They also performed at The Kids Are Alright marquee at the Chatteris Medieval Festival in 2009.
Dance Offensive are one of the few youth groups who have headlined at the Breakin Convention in London, a world famous breakdance festival.
The Cambridge crew have also dazzled government Ministers with their energy-packed performance, after appearing as the surprise act at the Justice Awards in Westminster.
