Wisbech Town have completed the signing of former King’s Lynn Town midfielder Richard Bunting from AFC Rushden and Diamonds.
The move sees the 36-year-old team up with former manager Gary Setchell having skippered the King’s Lynn Town side which Setchell guided to the Northern Premier League Division One South title in 2012-13.
The highly-experienced midfielder is eligible to play for the Fenmen against Bromsgrove Sporting in the FA Vase on Saturday and can’t wait to pull on a red and green white shirt.
“I am chuffed to be joining the club, at a really exciting time and can’t wait to get going,” he told the Wisbech Standard.
“The club are on a real high at the moment and the Vase game on Saturday is going to be a really special day for the club. I am looking forward to playing whatever part I can in the team between now and the end of the season.
“The move was a little bit unexpected for me, but it is a great opportunity to join up with Gary Setchell again.
“He is one of the best managers that I have player for and I played some of the best football of my career under him in the past, so it is great to be back as a team.”
Bunting has spent the last four seasons with AFC Rushden & Diamonds and in a statement Setchell thanked Diamonds’ manager Andy Peaks for his assistance in the transfer.
