Many chairmen turn to replacing their managers when stuck in a rut – but none could have imagined the turnaround Wisbech Town have had under boss Gary Setchell.

The fabulous Fenmen added their 10th and 11th games unbeaten this week with 3-0 and 1-0 successes against St Andrews and Deeping Rangers respectively.

That run has fired Setchell’s men into seventh place in the UCL Premier Division standings – and just two points behind Rangers who sit in fourth.

Wisbech began their winning week in Leicester, where a repeat of the 4-0 win at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium looked on the cards as the Fenmen raced into two goal lead inside 25 minutes.

Billy Smith was successful from the penalty spot in the 17th minute after Alex Beck was clattered by a defender. Six minutes later, Beck got on the scoresheet himself after good work from Michael Frew.

With 15 minutes remaining, Matthew Baird spurned a glorious chance to get St Andrews back into the game, but he missed the target when it looked easier to score.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men with seven minutes remaining, a second booking for Lewis Turland after he hacked down Luke Wilson.

Seconds into stoppage time, Frew latched onto a monster kick from veteran goalkeeper Paul Bastock to confirm all three points.

And three days later, the Fenmen had a late Josh Ford free-kick to thank for their three points.

Ford lifted an excellent shot through the Deeping wall in the dying seconds when it looked as though the sides were set to share a point.

Wisbech will look to add a 12th game unbeaten on Saturday - but face a tough test in the form of Desborough Town (3pm).

Desborough sit in fifth in the standings but the Fenmen will leapfrog them if they take all three points at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium.

Setchell’s men then travel to struggling Sleaford Town the following Friday (7.45pm).
