WISBECH Town begin their pre-season campaign with the prospect of facing fierce rivals March Town United twice in as many months.

The Fenmen - who welcome former striker Andy Furnell’s Soham Town Rangers to the Elgood’s Fenland Stadium on Saturday (3pm) - travel to the Hares on Tuesday night in a pre-season derby (7.45pm).

However, the Ridgeons League Challenge Cup winners could face Brett Whaley’s side again in a mouth-watering FA Cup Preliminary Round derby on September 3 - but only if both teams can get past their extra preliminary round opponents.

Steve Appleby’s side host Halstead Town while March host premier division Kirkley & Pakefield on August 20 for a chance to set up the biggest Fenland derby in decades.

Elsewhere, Wisbech begin their FA Vase campaign in the first round proper on October 22. They will host either Stowmarket Town, Hadleigh United, Walsham-le-Willows or Fakenham Town.

Appleby remains in talks with Chatteris Town midfielder Steven Reid about joining the club but former reserve team captain Lewis Cook has joined March.

• The club will hold a fans forum at their Lynn Road ground next Thursday (July 21) at around 7.15pm.
