14 year old, Lilliana Izzo is the latest junior to receive the Peter Peukert Memorial Trophy awarded annually.
The award is presented to the junior player who has shown the most improvement and commitment over the season and is in memory of Mr Peukert who died 30 years ago.
Mr Peukert was a member of the Wisbech Tennis Club for many years and served on the committee in a variety of roles.
A spokesman said: “He loved his tennis and played very much for the fun of it rather than competitively, although he did play in matches.
“He encouraged other people to play and got his daughter Sarah involved in tennis, and the family have continued to support this award for which we are very grateful.”
Lilliana received the award at the clubs Christmas party where the children celebrated her achievements with fun and games followed by tea provided by parents.
Coaching courses start again on Sunday January 7 for both adults and children, for more information visit: www.wisbechtennisclub.org.uk
