Wisbech St Mary boss Aaron Duke has praised his side’s recent upturn in form after they progressed into the next round of the First Division KO Cup.

Nick Davey and Lewis Gibson earned the Saints a 2-1 win over Downham Town last night – their third straight win in all competitions - and Duke hopes his side can turn in another confident performance on Saturday when they host Whitton United in the FA Vase (3pm).

“It’s amazing the difference a week makes. A few weeks ago we were flat and lacking any confidence but now we are off the back of three wins on the bounce and the confidence is clear for all to see,” Duke said.

“It was a strong performance from the lads last night and it’s pleasing going into Saturday’s massive Vase clash in such positive form.

“It’s going to be a tough game; they are going very well in the league but at the minute we are confident again and that will be very important going into the game.”
