Wisbech St Mary defender Callum Brown has been named chairman of the newly-created Cambridgeshire FA Youth Council.

The Wisbech St Mary under 18s manager was named chairman of the group last week, and attended its first ever meeting with other council members to discuss ways the Youth Council could support the county’s strategy to improve grassroots football.

Members agreed on their first two projects: provision of fun, recreational football for people who have dropped out of traditional football, and coach support groups for other young people.

The Youth Council is for young people aged between 14 and 22 to give them a voice in shaping the future of the game and a platform to aid increase participation amongst youth in grassroots football.

Brown plays as a defender for Wisbech St Mary in the Kershaw Premier League, as well as for Anglia Ruskin University.
