WISBECH Rugby Club’s youngsters travelled to St Ives at the weekend and enjoyed mixed results despite playing some excellent rugby.

The under-10s were slow to get going in their first clash against St Ives A and lost 10-0. But tries from Thomas Nunn, Luke Green, Finlay Wilcox and Frank Etherington secured a 20-0 win over St Ives B in their second match.

Determined not to be turned over again the side raised their game in an excellent re-match with the home side’s A team and were unlucky to draw 5-5. A number of players gave fantastic performances but Archie Lyall was crowned player of the week.

The under-8s beat St Ives 8-7 in their first match with the unstoppable Ben Wilcox running in four tries. Jack Fowler scored a hat-trick in the side’s second win of the day, 7-5, while Sam Howat grabbed his second double of the afternoon in the third game - a 6-6 draw.

Oliver Mann ran in six tries and Jenson Nunn and Oliver Murdoch five each for the under-7s. Their three matches against St Ives ended in two defeats, 7-5 and 6-5, and one 7-7 draw.
