IT'S been a busy time for Wisbech Town Cricket Club.

The club went on a tour of Scarborough last week, playing three matches in three days.

The tour ended with a spectacular final-ball defeat to Ebberston.

Ebberston needed one run to win off the final ball.

Matthew Parrin's delivery bounced of the batsman's pads and back to the bowler who then overthrew it to the boundary.

This gave Ebberston a score of 234-9.

Simon Freear (2-8) and Gary Freear (2-16) had bowled well for Wisbech.

Wisbech had earlier scored 229-7 with Gary Freear (110), Dom Stannard (52) and Paul Strickle (28) their top scorers.

Earlier in the week, Wisbech beat Forge Valley and Bridlington.

In Tuesday's match against Forge Valley, Gary Freear (72), Gavin Plume (49 not out), Jonny Strickle (22) and John Mallett (21) helped Wisbech reach 226 all out.

Forge Valley responded with 213-6, with Keith Jakings (2-16) and James Williams

(2-19) were Wisbech's best bowlers.

And on Monday Simon Freear (103), Gary Freear (63), Williams (33) and Parrin helped Wisbech reach 271 all out against Bridlington.

Bridlington replied with 188-8, with Simon Freear (2-12), Lyndon Waters (2-25) and Sam Darlow (2-21) their chief run-makers.

Wisbech have been playing touring side Sheffield Squirrels this week and went on a tour of Essex yesterday and Wednesday.

The club have four games tomorrow and the first team will be playing in the Smith Barry Cup Final at St Ives against Granta second team on Sunday.

They will then host a community cricket week, starting on Monday and running until Friday.

This will be for boys and girls, aged seven to 15 and is open to members and non-members.

It will involve cricket coaching, tournaments and more.
