WISBECH'S cup exploits for this season came to an abrupt end at the hands of old rivals Lowestoft & Yarmouth on Saturday.
But, had it not been for the continuing lack of first team squad players due to injury and unavailability, Wisbech could have won the match.
The close encounter could have gone either way up to the last five minutes and Wisbech played a much than last week.
Andy McCubbin at prop led from the front against a far bigger pack that exploits this attribute using rolling mauls and driven line outs.

Wisbech defended well, restricting Lowestoft & Yarmouth to two early scores, but then managed to put some pressure on the home defence and were awarded a penalty mid-way through the first half.
Although that missed, Wisbech got another chance shortly afterwards to make the score 12-3 at half time.
Wisbech lost Tom Martell and Will Pettit early in the second half started, but continued to take the game to Lowestoft & Yarmouth.
That period of pressure saw Josh Seal cross for what was to be Wisbech's only try.
Wisbech pressed on for the winning points, but Lowestoft & Yarmouth managed to steal a Wisbech line out and ultimately the game scoring the decisive try with five minutes left. They added another try on the final whistle.
On Saturday Wisbech are at home in their fourth match in London North East division three against Wymondham, who currently are third from bottom having won one game from three.
