The trio of back to back races for Wisbech Inline Speed Skaters came to an end at the weekend with a visit to Tatem Park in Enfield.
Ten members took to the oval track in glorious sunshine to compete with teams from Birmingham, East Midlands, Essex and London in three category races with skaters of similar abilities, and one age category race each.
Siblings Leah and Taylor Barker made a clean sweep in their category races with three wins a-piece, and then both finished second in their age category races, with huge improvements in their racing form.
Sixteen year old youth skater Warren Eve, impressed on the day with three first place finishes in Category 2.
Warren put on a strong display alongside team-mate Tiago Fougo in the 3,000mts race where they finished 1st and 2nd respectively.
Both skaters also took part in the tough 5,000mts race, the final race of the day, which saw team coach Mike McInerney finish the long race just a split second behind eventual race winner Bobby Ball from Essex.
Mike also finished in overall second place in Cat 1.
The podium was awash with Wisbech skaters in Cat 3 with Dylan Taylor, Arthur Buckler and James Eve all competing together.
They finished overall with 1st, 2nd and 3rd places respectively. Arthur and James also gaining 1st places in their own age category races - Mini boys and Cadet boys.
Lucy McInerney took home a well-earned 2nd place medal for the Junior Girls 3,000mts race.
The day wasn’t without drama. In Category 1 the team saw Flynn McGurk hit the floor hard after an on-track incident between two rival skaters during the 1,500mts which controversially took out half of the pack.
Flynn and Mike fell to the floor from leading the race after Flynn impressed by moving up to second place behind Mike who was leading.
Mike re-started the race and eventually finished in second place, but Flynn suffered from injury and was out of competition for the rest of the day.
The team are now focusing on the British Championships in Mid-June in Birmingham.
