The future is looking bright for Wisbech Grammar School’s budding hockey players.
The school’s starlets picked up their sticks and took part in the girls’ under-nine hockey festival, where they took on Stamford and Bedford Modern School.
The festival marked some of the players’ first game of competitive hockey but the A team produced a professional display and netted 10 goals in four matches.
Jemima Mitchell and Libby Hoyles scored four apiece and Chloe Davis hit two.
The B Team also played incredibly well and gained some valuable on-pitch experience, ably coached by Sally Webb and Fourth Form pupils Hannah Lemmon and Annie Bennett. Head of hockey at Wisbech Grammar School, Mark Jarvis said: “Thanks must go to the parents from all the schools for their positive support, for which we hope to run another festival in the near future.”
