WISBECH Town Cricket Club have enjoyed a dream start to the season with all four of their Saturday teams on top of their leagues.

And first team captain Gary Freear was in inspired form on Saturday as he bowled 6-33 before smashing 58 not out to help his side to an eight-wicket Tucker League victory over Sawston.

He crucially took the wickets of the Sawston danger men.

He caught and bowled No. 2 Liam Flynn (62) and his bowl forced No. 3 Glen Goosen (50) into an error that saw Brad Apted take a catch and Sawston were all out for 166.

James Williams took 3-28 and Craig Johnson was the other Wisbech wicket-taker with 1-45.

Wisbech's Ben Allsop was dismissed on 16 but fellow opener Damian Coad hit a stunning 56 and Williams scored 28 not out to add to Freear's efforts as Wisbech finished on 167-2.

Bowlers Tom Bourne (3-10) and Paul Strickle (4-18) ensured the winning form was maintained by Wisbech seconds.

They beat Godmanchester thirds by five wickets in the Hunts Division Two.

Ryan Van Waterschoot weighed in with 2-27 and Matthew Parrin jnr took 1-17 as Godmanchester were all out for 117.

No. 3 Carl Pope was Wisbech's star batsmen with 32 not out as they reached 118-5 in 32 overs.

Wisbech third team's opening batsman Dom Stannard hit a fine 72 on the way to a five-wicket West Norfolk Division Three win over Denver.

Hosts Denver opened with 172-4 and Wisbech's best bowler was Rob Burgess with 2-39.

Stannard led the response in which Richard Harnwell hit 42 runs and Wisbech finished on 173-5.

Robbie Harris took a phenomenal 6-7 to help Wisbech fourths cruise to a six-wicket West Norfolk Division Four win over Fakenham fourths.

Nick Drew took 3-19 as Fakenham were all out for 76.

Wisbech first Sunday side's heavy nine-wicket Rutland League defeat to Peterborough firsts was the only blot on an otherwise perfect weekend for the club.

Gary Freear scored 30 runs but no other Wisbech batsman made double figurers and they were all out for 77.

Peterborough scored 78-1 in 18 overs.

Ivan Burgess (1-24) was the only Wisbech wicket-taker but James Williams impressed, conceding just seven runs from three overs.
