WISBECH first team captain Gary Freear went for his first duck in Saturday cricket for four years as his side lost by eight wickets to Nassington and slipped from second to fifth in the Tucker League.

Freear went off his first ball in a Tanvir Afzal hat-trick in the fifth over that wiped out three key Wisbech batsmen.

The others were Ben Allsop (19) and James Williams, who also went for a duck.

Freear said: "These things happen sometimes. They were three very good deliveries that we couldn't do much about. The hat-trick killed the game "

Matthew Parrin jnr scored 33 not out and Chris Clark scored 17 as Wisbech recorded 115 all out, with Afzal finishing on 6-41.

Nassington replied with 118-2.

Wisbech play bottom side Waresely away on Saturday.

Freear said: "We should win this game and the league is very tight at the top so I'm sure we can get back up there soon."

Elsewhere, Lyndon Waters took 3-55 and scored 21 not out in Wisbech second team's 38-run defeat to Waresley seconds.

Waresley posted 217-7 and Shane Sleath weighed in with 37 in Wisbech's reply of 179-8.

A 46 from Richard Harnwell and 5-40 from Adrian Peck contributed to Wisbech third team's 18-run West Norfolk Division Three win at Grimston seconds.

Adrian Clare scored 29 as Wisbech reached 168 all out and Grimston replied with 150 all out.

Kieran Haynes took 5-19 to help Wisbech fourths to a seven-wicket West Norfolk Division Four win over Castle Acre seconds.

Castle Acre went for 85 and Ken Smart (24) and Matt Pack (21 not out) were the chief Wisbech run-makers in 87-3.

Gary Freear was back to form on Sunday, hitting 48 runs and taking 2-34 but Wisbech firsts still lost by 24 runs to Oundle in the Rutland Division One.

Oundle opened with 166 all out and Williams was the best Wisbech bowler with 3-24.

Wisbech were all out for 142.

Grant Clark's 128 not out helped Wisbech's second Sunday side to a 101-run win over Geddington in the Rutland Division Seven.

Ken Smart (58), Keith Jakings (38) and Dom Stannard (32) helped Wisbech to a massive 308-5.

Ryan Van Waterschoot (2-43), John Mallett (2-26) and Sam Darlow (2-15) did the damage and Geddington replied with 207-9.

Wisbech's third Sunday team suffered a 229-run Fenland Invitation drubbing at St Ives, thanks mainly to Tom Beale's 150.

James Biddle added 87 and Richard Grellier, 55 not out, in St Ives' 322-2.

Parrin was Wisbech's best player, taking 2-62 before scoring 27 runs in Wisbech's 93 all out.
