With all money raised going towards the building of a new pavilion known locally as the Crockey Project.

Jane Peggs, crockey project coordinator, said: “This is the first of our three major events of the year.

“In the two years that the project has been running we raised just over the £250,000 towards a target of £650,000.

“A new pavilion will allow the two sports of the club to expand. This will be an excellent opportunity for the local community to come and have a look at the club and see the plans.”

Lashings have confirmed a host of ex-international players will be attending including Chris Schofield, Martin Bicknell, Wasim Jaffer, Chris Lewis and John Emburey with others to be announced at a later date.

The day will start at around 11am with coaching sessions from Lashing players for all youngsters who wish to attend.

There will also be a chance to get autographs and selfies with the players.

Lunch will be served at around 2pm which will include a three-course meal. There will be 10 tables available with a player from Lashings to lunch with.

There will be one platinum table to have lunch with Henry Blofeld who will also be providing commentary during the game.

A keen cricketer himself during his youth, he played 16 first-class matches for Cambridge during the late-1950s. His cricket career was curtailed by being run over by a bus in 1957.

As a broadcaster, he became the longest serving member of the TMS commentary team, having joined the show in 1972, famed both for his distinctive voice and a loveable habit of analysing almost anything that catches his eye, including playful pigeons on the pitch and drunken fans.

During the lunch the marquee will be full of entertainment and music rounding off with an auction of various items.

A silent auction for memorabilia along with raffles will also take place.

The match is due to start at around 4pm with a closing ceremony at about 7.30pm.

Entrance to watch the match is free with lots of attractions surrounding the ground.

Sponsorship packages are available if any local business would like to support the event. Corporate lunch tables are available by calling Gary Freear on 07834 436345 or email garyfreear21@aol.com

Prices start from £65 per ticket.
