WISBECH Rugby Club are back in training and looking forward to playing in the London North East Division Three following last season's promotion.

They will be relishing local derbies against West Norfolk and facing the likes Billericay, Dagenham, Beccles and old foes Lowestoft and Yarmouth, who pipped them to the Eastern Counties Division One title last season.

The Fenland club have also been drawn away to Lowestoft and Yarmouth in the National Cup on October 3.

Wisbech head coach Steve Drawbridge said: "We are looking to consolidate our position and build on the success of last year.

"It's fantastic for a town the size of Wisbech to have a team playing at this level.

"I have a good set of young players and virtually the entire squad from last year has re-signed."

Tom Long has been names as the new first team captain.

Players are training at Harecroft Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7pm and newcomers are welcome.

The league season gets underway on September 12 when Wisbech entertain Billericay at Harecroft Road.
