WISBECH stormed to the top of the division with an excellent display.

The first half was a close affair, with Wisbech scoring first. Peterborough struck back quickly and equalised from their first real chance of the game.

SCOTT Ingram made an impressive debut for Long Sutton but an unbelievably goalless second half meant the spoils were shared.

The hosts started brightly but soon got pegged back and conceded a scrambled goal.

With Dan Batten and Jack Faulkner pushing forward from defence, an equaliser was always on the cards and Stefan Fox duly popped up in the D to slot home a good shot.

The second half saw plenty of chances at both ends but no more goals.

Russ Brockwell and Brad Sargeant carved out some good openings down Long Sutton's right, but they could not break through a determined defence and the share of the points sees the two sides sit comfortably mid-table.

LONG Sutton turned on the style to demolish a side widely tipped to head the B division this season.

Imposing themselves from the off, the host's fast passing style left their visitors bewildered - and one goal down from the opening penalty corner of the game.

Continuing to dominate, Long Sutton finished the half 5-1 up.

The second half was more even, with both sides scoring a further three goals.

The Long Sutton defence was solid and Hales sealed the win with his fourth goal of the game shortly before the end.

Sutton travel to Watford on Saturday to face West Herts and will look to build on this performance to consolidate their position near the top of the table.

WISBECH played good attacking hockey straight from the off and kept Peterborough at bay, the first half finishing goalless.

The hosts then stepped up their game and scored twice, with goalkeeper James Dod keeping Peterborough from any chance of a comeback and earning the man of the match award.

Wisbech travel to Boston next week.

A SEVERE injury to Nat Ward added to the pain of defeat for Wisbech.

Town started the game at pace and scored the only goal of the half.

In the second, Cambridge had some lucky decisions go their way, enabling them to even the score.

Ward then suffered injury and a minute after the game had restarted Cambridge scored their decisive second goal.

Wisbech play Chelmsford II on Saturday and National Premier League Poynton at Belle Vue in Manchester on Sunday.

NOMADS' dominant second-half performance ensured victory.

The visitors scored the first goal from open play going around the Wisbech defence.

Wisbech managed to find the net after a silky run from Joe Melton resulted in a Lee Peck goal.

The second half was all Nomads with Wisbech defending valiantly but not able to create a link between forwards and midfield to allow the vital attacks to count. Several short corner chances also went begging from both sides throughout the game.

Next week the seconds play Cambridge University at home.

Wisbech II 1 Ely I 1

WISBECH started strongly but failed to convert three penalty corner opportunities that should have put the match outcome beyond doubt.

Ely rallied and Wisbech went into half-time 1-0 down despite having enjoyed the majority of play.

The second half was more evenly poised with the visitors applying more pressure, but Wisbech brought the match back to 1-1 mid-way through the period.

Despite pressing hard towards the end, Wisbech were unable to penetrate the Ely defence and find a decisive goal.
