EASTERN COUNTIES DIVISION ONE
Cantabridgian 8 Wisbech 15
WISBECH bounced back from the previous week's EDF Vase heartbreak to re-discover their winning form.
It was an open game of running rugby that Wisbech dominated from the start.
The outstanding Andy Hoyles was first to cross, his try being converted by his brother Jack.
Although Cantabs responded with a try of their own, it was Wisbech who took the spoils with a try from James Napier.
Jack Hoyles kicked a penalty to complete the scoring.
Throughout the game the Wisbech forwards were on top and in contrast to last week, the team played without the pressure that had built up for the big cup game.
Will Pettit was instrumental in midfield, scrum half Andy Claydon was on top of his game and Jack Hoyles looked assured at fly half.
Wisbech can take great heart in the news that last week's victors Lowesoft and Yarmouth secured a place in the semi-finals of the EDF Junior Vase thumping Harbury away 73-3, a clear indication that Wisbech were close to going all the way.
Wisbech now find themselves in third place in the league behind Newmarket with a game in hand and play Holt away tomorrow, followed by Fakenham at home the week after.
