I TRAVELLED with Towns End Angling Club to Hilgay to fish on the Farm Lake at Dents Fishery last Sunday.

This match was a Paids Match and on the day Martin Walnough and Terry King came out on top with 52-3. Second place went to Alan Driver and Ray Wilson with 29-10 and third went to Denis Sandbridge and Pete Church with 29-4, while myself and Alan Humphrys came fourth with 21-12.

Walnough was the individual winner with 33lb, Sandbridge was second with 29lb and King was third with 19-3, which included the biggest fish of the day - and 15lb common carp - the biggest carp King has ever caught.

I came joint fourth with Wilson with 15lb.

Townsend's next match is on May 18 at the East Delph Lakes, near Whittlesey.

Wimblington Angling Club fished Jay Lake at Pidley last Sunday and travelling partners Shaun Strachan and Micky Smalley came out first and second. Strachan won with 49lb of small carp to 1lb, Smalley had 37lb and Pat North was third with 33lb.

Last Saturday tackle shop worker Alex Bates took top spot on lake two at Tunell Barn with 85lb and finished sixth overall.

On Sunday, Mill View travelled to Barford Lakes, near Norwich to fish on Carlton Lake where Mick Sonnett drew a corner peg and fished close in to land carp to 6lb for a winning total of 147lb. Tim Bates was second with 115-8 and Paul Hunt was third with 71lb.

Next week, Mill View are fishing at the Old Lake at King's Land Fishery, near Coates.

A week last Wednesday saw the Mill View senior citizens in action on Magpie Lake at Pidley and once again it was Sonnett who took top spot with 75lb. Second place went to Stan Jay with 45lb and Dave Fravague came third with 39lb.

Next Wednesday sees Whitemoor Angling Club travel to High Flyers Lake at Ely. Draw time is 8.30am.

Last Saturday saw an open match on the pool at Fields End Water and Brian Lakey came out on top with 44-4. Second place went to Ian Millings, who had 33-12 and Adrian Hunter was third with 33-00.

In the senior citizen's match last Tuesday Lakey was out in front for the second time. He had 70lb of carp to 3lb. George Wells was second with 32-7 and Ray Scadden was third with 29-4.

March angler Micky Pool has been travelling to Market Harborough to fish the Grand Union Canal most weekends since the river season ended. He came first in an open match last Sunday with 16lb, which included four tench and some perch and skimmers.

Over at Button Hole Lake the evening matches are getting very popular and a week last Tuesday Kevin Addison needed 57lb for top spot. Second place went to Sammy McSpadden with 49lb 8oz and Lester Pratt was third with 47lb.
