Ridgeons Premier Division: Wisbech Town 2 Mildenhall Town 1
A 30-YARD screamer from Callum Reed helped Wisbech Town maintain their 100 per cent start to the Ridgeons Premier Division campaign last night.
Reed - who notched during Saturday’s 3-0 opening day victory over Wivenhoe Town - showed his class once again when he lashed the ball home to put the Fenmen in front just after half-time.
He then turned provider, setting up Chris Bacon who nodded home his free-kick from close range to score his first competitive goal for Wisbech since his summer move from fierce rivals King’s Lynn Town.
James McCabe pulled one back for Mildenhall Town but it wasn’t enough to prevent the Fenmen from picking up a vital early-season victory as they chase the title.
Wisbech host first division Halstead Town in the FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round on Saturday.
