TYDD St Giles Golf Club’s seniors enjoyed the first Rabbits Cup Open as players with handicaps from 20.5-28 played in a new Stableford competition.
Senior captain Brian Shales launched the tournament and said the club should cater for all levels of golfers throughout the region. The event was well supported by both members and visitors with Marham Golf Club’s Gerry Thomas winning with 42 points and Marham’s Richard Brooke finishing runner-up with 39 points.
Thomas (fourth hole), Eric Savage from Marham (eighth hole), Bob Hewitt from Tydd St Giles Golf Club (12th hole) and the club’s Peter Neve (16th hole) picked up the nearest to the pin prizes.
Elsewhere, Tydd St Giles beat Kirton Holme Golf Club 6-0 with pairing Andy Betts and Jamie Stott, Luke Rowell and Malcolm Stead, Ian Edrupt and Leigh Chapman, Tom Brooks and Tim Hines, Kevin Goude and Liam Chapman and Paul Chaplain-Barton and Rod Drew all tasting success.
