PROFESSIONAL golfer James Cundy achieved a respectable 10th place in the Jamega Pro Tour at Cleveland Park, Somerset.

The 24-year-old, who plays at Tydd St Giles Golf Club, shot 75 and 71.

The competition saw 65 golfers take part.

He will now be playing in his first PGA Europro Tour event next week at the Players' Club, Bristol.

This will be seen as a major step in his young career.

The PGA Euro Pro Tour is a men's development professional golf tour, formed seven years ago with the intention of providing young professional golfers with a platform to launch a tournament career.

Out of eight events played Cundy, a distant cousin of Paralympic cycling champion Jody Cundy, has had five top 40 finishes with four rounds under par.

His best round to date was at Mentmore Golf and Country Club, Bedfordshire where he shot four under par, with 68.
