A HUGE combined score of 166 saw a home team win Tydd St Giles Golf Club's fifth annual seniors' open.

The format for the event was team stableford with all four scores counting on every hole and conditions were perfect and 144 golfers from across the region took part.

A Tydd team consisting of Robert Goodey, Stan Bowsher, Sid Haxell and Ged Taylor won the event.

The ladies' section headed by captain Beryl Clay, were involved in running a charity refreshments stall on the 10th hole.

They raised just under £200 for the East Anglian Childrens' Hospice.

Seniors co-ordinator and Captain Mr Brian Shales thanked all who took part, and all his many helpers.

He also thanked the Tydd catering staff for putting on a fantastic barbeque, and the green keepers for the excellent condition of the course.
