WISBECH Town chairman Barry Carter claimed that the club's board did everything they could to keep Roy McManus as manager.

In a statement released this week, Carter writes: "We regretfully accept Roy McManus's resignation and every effort has been made to keep him in place.

"We would like to thank him for all his efforts when he exceeded all our expectations.

"He will be sorely missed by everyone involved at Fenland Park, especially his team of young local players, with whom he had a special bond.

"As a board we would like to emphasise that since the end of the season Roy has been kept fully acquainted with every aspect of our forward planning and full communication was maintained as to teams, budget and the role we were hoping he would play."

The Wisbech board is now looking for a main sponsor for next season and anyone interested should contact David Parsons on 07825 683027.
