Tennis aces get rewards

BUDDING tennis stars were rewarded at Wisbech Tennis Club's annual junior awards ceremony.

The Peter Peukert Memorial Award was presented to Adam Groves.

Mr Peukert was a keen supporter of junior tennis at Wisbech Tennis Club and the trophy is awarded to the club's most consistent player.

Other nominees from different age groups received certificates and medals to recognise their improvement over the season.

They were Edward Page (under-10), Annabel Van Daalen (under-12), William Tysterman (under-16).

Sammie Ka (under-14) who was not able to attend and will be presented with his award at a later date.

Wisbech Tennis Club's Junior Member of the Year Aaron Williamson was presented with an award to recognise his commitment to the club.

Awards were handed out by Mr Peukert's widow, Fay Peukert.

Junior and adult coaching courses are currently running at the Thomas Clarkson Community College and new courses start every six weeks.

A new mini tennis course for players aged six and younger will start after half-term.
