WISBECH Town boss Steve Taylor is looking to bring veteran Kevin Leggett, who can play as a striker or defender, back to the Fenmen.

Leggett, 36, had spells with Wisbech in 2001 and 2004.

He narrowly missed out on promotion to the Ridgeons Premier Division with Diss Town last season and has also previously played for Swaffham.

Taylor said: "Kevin is just as capable of playing up-front as he is in defence.

"He's been around for a while and has a wealth of Ridgeons League experience.

"He's been in for two pre-season training sessions with us but it seems that Diss are desperate to keep hold of him. I'm expecting a decision from Kevin this week."

Taylor signed winger-come-striker Josh Kamau this week and plans to add some final touches to his squad.

Versatile midfielder Stuart King has been training with Wisbech and he is considering signing the player.

Taylor said: "Stuart is another experienced Ridgeons League player and a good lad with a good attitude."

Kamau, from Peterborough, has previously played for Yaxley and Shepshed Dynamo.

Taylor said: "Josh has impressed me in training. I originally wanted to see him play in a couple of friendly matches before making a decision on him, but decided to get him while I can and see how he gets on. We will have to see if he plays regularly in the first team or reserves."

Taylor has also been hoping to sign midfielder Mark Abbs, who he signed last year when he was Haverhill manager.

He said: "Mark still hasn't decided what he wants to do. A couple of other clubs are looking at him and lives in Newmarket, so is concerned about the distance he will have to travel."

n Wisbech have four friendly matches planned, starting with a trip to Boston United tomorrow.

They play Peterborough Northern Star at home on July 26, March Town United away on July 31 and Deeping Rangers at home on August 2.

The March game kicks off at 7.45pm and the other matches start at 3pm.
