SUTTON Bridge Golf Club welcomed in the New Year in style by hosting their annual captain’s “drive-in”.
Club captain Terry Young marked the start of 2012 by teeing off in front of a crowd of club members on New Year’s Day.
Spectators were invited to bet on the spot where they thought the ball would land from his drive.
Steve Hyde laid the winning marker which was placed little more than two club lengths from where the ball came to rest. He pipped runner-up Janet Groves by just half a length.
Money raised from the event, 65, will be donated to Young’s chosen charity, The Alzheimer’s Society.
