TWENTY two top six place positions - including two firsts - were gained by swimmers form Chatteris Kingfishers at the Midlands Masters Championships, at Leamington Spa.

Cathy Thomson came first in the 400m freestyle, second in the 100m freestyle, second in the 200m freestyle, second in the 50m freestyle, and third in the 50m Backstroke.

Dale Brown came first in the 200m breaststroke and second in the 400m individual medley.

Bastiaan Nooteboom came second in the 400m freestyle and 50m butterfly, third in the 200m freestyle and 400m individual medley and sixth in the 100m freestyle.

Andrew Fresher came third in the 50m breaststroke, 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke and fourth in the 50m backstroke.

Martyn Fresher came second in the 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke, third in the 50m freestyle, fourth in the 50m backstroke and sixth in the 100m individual medley.

Mark Thompson finished third in the 100m butterfly.

Brown, Thompson, Nooteboom and Scott Williams gained second places in the 4x50m freestyle relay and 4x50m medley relay.

Masters events are open to all age groups with some swimmers competing well into their 80s.
