VETERAN striker Andy Furnell has left Wisbech Town to become the new manager of former club Soham Town Rangers.
Rumours have been circulating for weeks that the 34-year-old would struggle to resist the lure of taking up his first managerial role after an approach from the Greens.
He will be assisted by another former player, Andy Coleman, who was also former boss Ian Benjamin’s assistant.
Furnell only left the Zameratto League Division One Central side last July to return to Wisbech after six years at the Lane, during which time he scored 97 goals in 289 appearances.
He originally joined Soham, from Wisbech, in 2004 and was part of the squad that won the 2008 Ridgeons League title.
