STUDENTS at a Wisbech school with a passion for sport will benefit from a new partnership with the College of West Anglia.

From September this year the CWA sport and leisure department will be working with the Thomas Clarkson Community College to provide sports courses for sixth formers.

Anyone aged 16 to 18 in Fenland wanting to progress further in sport, in anything from coaching and training to sport development and physiotherapy, can now get the best of starts with the joint working partnership.

The college will bring its flagship course to, The National Pathway to Sport level three programme (equivalent to three A-levels) to TCCC where learners can study a range of disciplines including sports nutrition, coaching, sports psychology and fitness.

Students will also have the chance to apply for the CWA sports academies including football, rugby and basketball where, if successful, they will receive coaching from a highly-qualified team.

Tommy Goode, programme manager for sport and leisure who launched the new provision on March 26, said: "I am delighted to be working with TCCC having attended school there myself. This project is very exciting and I am looking forward to bringing the outstanding sports provision at the CWA to Fenland.
