Leonard Veenendaal has stepped down as head coach of Wisbech.

The South African is to take up the role of chairman after Dick Pettit announced his resignation at the club’s annual awards evening last week.

Olly Mackett will replace Veenendaal as first team coach.

Veenendaal said: “It’s been a challenging and rewarding four seasons as head coach.

“There are some really talented players here and if they continue to build on the last couple of seasons they will be more than a match for any team in the new higher league of London 3E.

“I wish the team all the best going forward under Olly Mackett’s capable guidance and I’m looking forward to the new role of chairman and picking up where Dick left off.

“I would like to thank Dick on behalf of the club and the management team for his devoted and outstanding service and leadership through some tough times.”
