Manager Gary Setchell saluted the battling qualities of his side after they earned a pleasing Northern Premier League East Division point on Tuesday night.
The Fenmen fought back for a 2-2 draw against Lincoln United at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium after conceding twice in the opening 16 minutes.
But they slowly grew into the game and halved their arrears when Aaron Hart chipped into the far corner seven minutes before the break.
Ryan Harnwell and Sam Murphy both went close as Wisbech bossed much of the second half, but they had to wait until five minutes from time to claw themselves level.
Adam Millson coolly converted from the penalty spot after Ryan Harnwell was brought down in the box.
“We conceded one absolute worldie and then gave away a sloppy goal from a set piece,” said Setchell.
“If Lincoln United had got a third goal we would probably have gone under, but we didn’t let that happen.
“We hung in there, gradually got ourselves back into it and got our goal.
“I thought we were then the better team in the second half and we came away with a great point in the end.
“We probably didn’t do enough to win the game, but we definitely didn’t deserve to lose it so a draw was about right for me.
“That’s five points on the board from our first five games and we’re not a million miles away from where we need to be.
“We’re definitely holding our own at the moment.”
Wisbech handed a debut to new signing Sam Gaughran against Lincoln United.
He was snapped up after being axed as assistant manager of King’s Lynn, where he used to play under Setchell, on Sunday.
Gaughran has filled the defensive void left by a recent injury to summer recruit Beckham Kennelly, who could be out for up to six weeks with ligament damage.
The Fenmen are back on home turf this Saturday when Marske United, 3pm.
They welcome midfielder Danny Setchell back following a three-match suspension to face the current East Division leaders. Marske lead the way on goal difference from Brighouse and Stamford.
Wisbech are also in action at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium on Tuesday when facing AFC Mansfield in the opening round of the Integro League Cup, 7.45pm.
