Record-breaking Eve McInerney is skating her way to success by being the youngest and only female representing the UK at the European Inline Skating Championships.

The Wisbech Grammar School pupil will be part of the 1st year Junior B Team and will be competing across a gruelling schedule covering a series of sprints and marathon, taking place in Lagos, Portugal, between July 1-8.

In preparation for the championships, her coach, who is also her father and a previous European champion, is fully aware of the challenge facing his daughter and has been supporting and training her in preparation for this event.

Tom Calow, head of middle school at Wisbech Grammar School, said: “We are very proud of Eve’s achievements and her commitment to combining her sporting commitments and her academic studies.

“She is a great model for other pupils and we wish her the best of luck at the championships.”
