MARCH and Wisbech Rugby Clubs will lock horns for a place in the Cambridgeshire County Cup Final

March Bears have been paired with Wisbech 2nd XV in a semi-final match that will be played at Wisbech's Harecroft Road, on April 5.

March president Barry Feetham said: "Matches between the clubs have always been pretty close. Many of the players from the two clubs know each other and because of the local rivalry they have always had an extra competitive edge."

He added: "March have traditionally been known to base their game around a big strong pack. The pack is not so big nowadays and the squad is a lot younger. We now rely on the speed of the forwards to get to the breakdown and Wisbech have always played a quick running game so all signs point to a fast and free-flowing game of rugby.

"The players are all very excited and motivated after the disappointment of losing the semi-final on Saturday."

Wisbech 2nd XV skipper Andy Heighton said: "Our boys are well up for this match and I can see it being a very good game.

"We've been in great form lately and have only lost two games since Christmas so the squad is full of confidence.

"March have picked up some impressive results recently and look to be in good form so it won't be easy. But we've got a bigger and stronger pack then they have so will look to dominate from there and get plenty of ball out to our skilful backs.

"Friendlies between the two clubs are seen as big games but with so much riding on this one it's massive.
