The Fenmen entertain leaders Newport Pagnell in a mouth-watering top-of-the-table showdown at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium, 3pm.

Town will go into the crunch clash on a high after roaring to an 11-0 success against struggling Sileby Rangers last Saturday - the club’s biggest-ever success at the ground they have called home since 2010.

Newport Pagnell are currently top of the standings on 60 points from 28 games, ahead of Wisbech in second and Deeping Rangers in third. Those sides have both amassed 55 point to date and both boast two games in hand on Pagnell. Holbeach, who were thumped by Wisbech on Boxing Day, also look like having a big say in the title race - currenty sitting fourth on 54 points with four games in hand on the leaders.

The Fenmen boss said: “It’s wide open and anything can still happen. There are at least four sides who stand a chance of winning the title and I think it is going to go down to the wire.

“We can’t afford to get carried away after the result last weekend. I am taking nothing for granted and we will keep taking each game as it comes.

“The Pagnell clash is huge. We are both right up there and while we have got games in hand on them, it would be good to get one over them and close the gap.

“I am not looking past tomorrow at the moment. We need to keep the momentum building and win as many games as possible between now and the end of the season.”

Wisbech endured a lacklustre start to the season before Setchell was drafted in to replace Dick Creasey in the hotseat in September.

And the former King’s Lynn Town boss is delighted with what his side have achieved since then - suffering just one Premier Division defeat during his four months in charge.

Setchell added: “To be where we are, challenging for the title, shows just how far we have come since September.

“The players have been brilliant in getting us up the table and competing with the best sides in the league and to be challenging and is a reward for all the hard work that has been put in.”
