The Fenmen roared to an 11-0 victory against strugging Sileby Rangers in a United Counties League Premier Division clash.

The double-figure demolition is their biggest success for at least 25 years and certainly a new best at the Elgoods Fenland Stadium – bettering a 9-1 rout of Sleaford back in September.

“It was a special day for the club, and for me as a manager,” said boss Gary Setchell. “You always enjoy a win but to score 11 goals at home was fantastic, especially after slipping up at Oadby the week before.

“It has really got us going and is a huge morale boost going into the rest of the season.”

Alex Beck led the onslaught with a four-goal haul against a Sileby side reduced to 10 men late in the first half. Top-scorer Beck also had a hand in a couple of other Wisbech goals.

Midfielder Adam Millson hit a hat-trick with Danny Setchell, Billy Smith, Richard Bunting and Michael Frew also on target.

Setchell added: “It is difficult to pick out individuals after such a strong performance but Alex took his four goals really well and is having an excellent season, plus Adam did really well to get a hat-trick.

“A scoreline like this sends out a big message to everyone else in the league and is one of those results that will turn a few heads.

“I am really proud of the boys for the way they kept going and didn’t take their foot off the gas at any point. That commitment when already comfortably ahead is great to see as a manager.”
