A FENLAND woman won the Top International Rod title when representing England at the Ladies Home International Flyfishing match in Scotland.

Wendy Miller, from Coates, took nine fish for 20lb 6oz.

She was fishing on the Lake of Menteith and this was the second time she has secured this honour.

She last won it in 1999.

She said: "I am so, so chuffed to have lifted the Graham Smith Trophy.

"Not only to have won this prestigious prize in its self, but to have achieved this on a "foreign" water; in beautiful Scotland, but in also in what is very big year for me personally."

Miss Miller, who has been a keen flyfisher for 28 years, has 21 England caps and is the chairman of the England Ladies Flyfishing Association, will get married in September.

Scotland came first overall with 65 fish for 147lb 1oz, England came second with 52 fish for 111lb 12oz, Ireland were third with 39 fish for 86lb 9oz and Wales were fourth with 31 fish for 68lb 11.5oz.
