MORE than £250 was raised for charity at a fishing match, held in memory of an angler who died in his garden in Parson Drove after a lightning bolt struck the rod he was holding.
Chris Markillie died more than 25 years ago and the Chris Markillie Memorial Match has been held since 1988.
It was held at Willowcroft Fisheries in Wisbech St Mary on Saturday.
R Fladden won with 146lb 3oz, P Spriggs was second with 134lb 2oz and P Church was third with 97lb.
Twenty six anglers took part and a total of 1,171lb 12oz of fish, mainly carp, was caught.
Each angler paid £15 to enter and the money raised was divided between prize money for the first three anglers and money for the Markillie family's chosen charities.
