A Leverington martial arts and self defence instructor is celebrating after winning an illustrious award from one of the sport’s top magazines.

Seb King, who teaches self defence at the ABC Combat System class, was awarded a Martial Arts Illustrated Student Hall of Fame award last weekend after being nominated by his instructor, Master Chris Crudelli, presenter of BBC show ‘Mind, Body and Kick Ass Moves.’

His nomination came following a decade of training, during which he was made the UK head instructor of Master Crudelli’s martial arts system, the ABC Combat System.

Seb also travelled with Master Crudelli to the Southern Shaolin Temple in Quanzhou, China, last September, where he was invited to train with the Shaolin Warrior Monks and became one of the first wetern martial arts instructors to teach students at the Temple.

Seb was presented his award by actress Zara Phythian, best known for her role alongside Benedict Cumberbatch in ‘Doctor Strange,’ at a ceremony on July 2.
